Spring Blooms (Old-Wood Bloomers): Pruning Workshop

Come join the Arboretum’s Grounds Manager and Arborist, Ian Jochems, to learn about how to prune spring blooming shrubs like Witch Hazels, Winter Spike Hazels, Lilacs and more.  The class will entail a short classroom session followed by hands-on demonstrations where participants will be able to practice their pruning cuts and try out new tools.  We will be focusing on spring bloomers but a lot of the pruning techniques will be practical throughout the seasons.  All tools will be provided but please dress appropriately for outdoor work and bring gloves and safety glasses.
